This quite rare "Splitie" 1967 Volkswagen Bus is being treated to a complete ground up restoration.

Our client would like to make numerous upgrades to this cool Volkswagen Van.

We looked over the engine (our client was told the motor was rebuilt by the previous owner) and performed a compression test after adjusting the valves to proper specifications. It seemed to run fine after making minor adjustments to the carb.

We will check out the motor closer once we have it removed from the van and installed on one of our motor test/run stands later.

The remainder of the van was dis assembled including lights, trim, interior and bumpers.

Our next task was to remove numerous layers of old lacquer paint and body fillers by sanding all flat exterior panels to bare metal.

The next step was to media blast the remainder of the exterior and all of the interior of the van to expose all of the improper previous repairs that were done over the years.

A list of replacement patch panels was made and ordered. The van will require quite a bit of new metal work, but we have seen worse!

The bare metal areas that will not be requiring new metal repair received two coats of a special anti rust epoxy primer and top coated with a layer of grey high build primer.

The metal order arrived and lots of metal fabrication started. The old rusted out sections were cut out and all new steel welded in and welds ground smooth.
