This is a VERY Rare car....

A 1972 BMW 2002 Coupe "German Edition".

Our client purchased this car brand new in Germany and had it shipped here to Canada.

It has been in a couple of fender benders and had a few paint jobs over the years. Someone attempted to perform a "quick" prep and paint job before it arrived at our "Spa".

Our first step was to properly finish the dis assembly of the car that was started somewhere else. The cracked front windshield and heavily cracked and dried out windshield seal was removed, along with rear and all remaining side glass.

The remainder of trim, clips and mouldings were removed next. The original (and damaged) headliner was removed along with the remainder of carpet sections, seats and dash board.

There were several light housings and trim pieces along with the fuel tank and bumper brackets that were left on the car that needed to be properly removed.

Several pieces of trim and brackets that were left on the car had damaged (stripped) nuts and bolts and screw heads that needed to be drilled out due to poor previous attempts by the "other shop" who tried to dis assemble the car.

We removed several layers of old lacquer paint and primers (and a substantial amount of excessive use of body fillers), sanding it down to bare metal to properly perform the body work this car deserves.

Once all of the flatter panels were sanded to bare metal we hammer and dollied most of the countless dents before the body shell and other components were media blasted.

A special two part black epoxy was applied (to seal the bare metal from rust).

The black epoxy primer was then covered with a high quality grey high build primer and countless hours of block sanding began next.

There were numerous sections on this BMW that were poorly and incorrectly "covered over" with massive amounts of body fillers.

With the fillers removed, we exposed several areas where rusted out metal was covered up and painted over.

All of the problem areas were cut out and new metal patches were custom made, welded into place and welds ground smooth.
