1974 VW Custom Bug Photo Gallery
Meet "Kermit", a fun custom build that started with a 1974 Volkswagen "Standard Beetle". Kermit was painted Kawasaki Green with a base coat clear coat finish.
We rebuilt and upgraded the engine, added a dual carb and a genuine VW header exhaust system. We added some chrome accents, replaced the clutch, pressure plate and release bearing. The rear axle seals were replaced along with all new rear brakes.
The standard front drum brakes were upgraded to a disc brake kit along with 2 1/2" drop spindles. We also lowered the rear suspension to match the lowered front. We upgraded the wheel and tires. The rims are a nice set of "Sprintstars".
We built a custom dash and upgraded the gauges and added a digital speedometer. We installed a 7 Inch screened stereo system that includes G.P.S, Navigation, T.V, D.V.D, Bluetooth and C.D player with a wireless remote control, amplifier, sub woofer and speakers. We also built a custom rear speaker shelf below the back window. Kermit also has a custom made center console with an analog clock and a U.S.B and power plug built in the passenger side of the console.
The interior received a full sound insulation package, new headliner, new carpet along with new door panels , new seat foam and material, and upgraded window handles. We removed the stock vent windows and installed a one piece glass kit. All windows were tinted and all new rubber seals were installed (upgraded German seals).
The large bumpers and bumper brackets used in '74 were removed and the newly modified fenders give the car a sportier wider looking stance. All exterior chrome was replaced with new. A custom VW decal package was added above the running boards.
