Let us introduce you to "KODE RED"

This 1967 Ford Mustang Fastback is a fun project! Our client would like to transform Kode Red into a 1968 "Shelby Tribute Car". Perhaps we should call Kode Red a Shelby GT500 "KR".

That's neat, having a double meaning...referring to the original "K.R" meaning King Of The Road, and current meaning, the name "Kode Red"!

We will be performing a complete transformation with many upgrades.

Kode Red will be receiving an upgraded fuel injected powerplant. Our client purchased a damaged 2011 Shelby for the powerplant. A 550 Horsepower, 505 ft. lbs. torque motor along with the manual 6 speed transmission!

This 1968 Shelby tribute car will also be receiving further upgrades to the front and rear suspension.

Our client ordered a complete custom independent front and rear suspension package from Heidts.

The brakes will be an upgraded Wilwood 4 wheel disc brake system. An upgraded power brake booster kit will also be installed.

The body will be upgraded to a Shelby front hood and front facia, along with the 4 fiberglass Shelby scoops and correct rear trunk with built in rear spoiler and rear quarter panel extensions.

Kode Red will also be receiving several interior enhancements with numerous upgrades and custom touches.

After the fabrication was completed, the front and rear suspension components were all "dry fitted" in place.

Kode Red's new powerplant was also set into the engine bay to check for clearance and verify locations for the motor & transmission mounts.

After all of the dry fitting is complete, the components will be removed, taken apart and treated to powder coating.

The body upgrades have begun. The 4 Shelby side scoops (two per side) were dry fitted, body smoother was added where needed (to ensure a proper snug fit to the body panels). Once the scoops fit perfectly to the panels, the surrounding area of the quarter panel was sanded to bare metal and a special etch primer was applied to properly seal the bare metal and prepare it for upcoming primer.

The Shelby reproduction rear deck lid was fitted to the trunk support brackets. The two rear quarter panel extensions were dry fitted next. Lots of work will be needed to ensure proper fit to the quarter panels and fiberglass extension pieces.

Our attention turned to the front nose area next. The Shelby headlight extensions were dry fitted onto the original front fenders. The lower bumper section was also set into place. There will be a large amount of fitting and adjusting in the front section to allow the bracing and brackets to fit and bolt to the original radiator support area.
